A thoughtful donation to help bereaved families say goodbye

Southern Co-op Funeralcare is incredibly grateful to a family who has chosen to support other bereaved families through a kind donation towards an Abi Cooling Cot, provided by the charity Abigail’s Footsteps.

Earlier this year, Tracie Sharp, one of our Area Client Experience Managers, met Alyssa from Abigail’s Footsteps whilst attending the National Funeral Exhibition (NFE). The connection provided an opportunity to learn more about the charity’s work supporting families following the loss of a baby.

Abigail’s Footsteps provides Abi Cooling Cots, which help bereaved parents spend more precious time with their baby. By gently cooling the baby’s body, the cots can give families additional time together to grieve, create lasting memories and say goodbye in their own way.

Each Abi Cooling Cot costs approximately £3,000, and we are delighted that a family has chosen Southern Co-op Funeralcare as the recipient of their generous donation towards one.

The cot will be portable, allowing it to be moved between our funeral homes as needed. This flexibility means we can make the cot available to families who need it, helping more people spend valuable time with their loved one and giving them the space and time to say goodbye.

The donation is a particularly meaningful gesture, representing a family’s wish to help others experiencing loss. Their generosity will help Southern Co-op Funeralcare provide additional compassion, care and support to families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the family for their kindness and to Abigail’s Footsteps for the important work they do supporting bereaved parents.

At Southern Co-op Funeralcare, we understand that every goodbye is personal. We are grateful for the opportunity to help make these precious moments together possible for more families.
