My late brother had terminal cancer and died very soon after diagnosis. I visited Co-operative Funeral Care in Farnborough. I met Sam Stephens who held my hand through the whole process and gave me invaluable help. Nothing was too much trouble. I used the co-operative funeral care as they had given my late father a lovely send-off in 2006.
Thank you, Annabel, for sharing your experience. We're truly honoured to have been there for you during such a difficult time. It's heart-warming to hear that Sam provided the support you needed. Your family's trust in us over the years means a lot, and we're glad we could help you honour your brother's memory. My husband arranged a prepaid simple funeral. The staff at the Farnborough Coop funeral office were polite, caring and very helpful. How, the coop have their own crematorium at, The Oakes in Havant and beautiful place and my family and I arranged to meet together to college my husband's ashes. We could have paid yo have the ashes brought back to Farnborough but as there was no attended funeral we wanted to make the collection of the ashes into a special occasion. We made arrangements to collect the ashes two day prior to collection and gave the staff there plenty of notice. On arrival at The Oakes office we were asked to wait until a more senior colleague arrived. This person mafr no introduction, just asked us if they had the ashes or if we did. We explained that we had arranged to collect my husbands ashes. This person went away for a good period of time and returned with someone else's ashes. At this point she asked who we were and my husbands name and then went away for about another 15min. She couldn't find my husbands ashes and so rang the office where the ashes were stored and in her panic was giving them the wrong information. Eventually a manager came to apologise and it seemed that my husband's ashes had been taken to Camberley and neighbouring town to Farnborough. We drove back to Farnborough to collect the ashes. It was a very upsetting experience. I have given the service 4 star as the Farnborough were exceptional but although I realise mistakes can be made the staff member at The Oakes definitely needs retraining in customer service.
Mary, thank you for your thoughtful feedback. We're glad to hear the Farnborough team provided the care and support you needed during this difficult time.
